This series of work came about in response to material properties and a love for the discarded object. This interest stems from the notion that I am a contemporary archaeologist. As a sculptor I value all media as resource and instinctively collect. As an artist conscious of the environmental issues concerning us all I value commentary on waste and respect toward the discarded elements of our consumer lives. As a visual poet I combine shards of intimate detritus into individual compositions. The allusion to the Periodic Table is a personal recollection of early science study and directly relates to a system of individual and personal life choices and decisions. The purity of each element in essence is like the purity of a thought. There is a narrative component in each panel and a confusion of links across the system. The singular element or collective configurations combine to complicate simple matter and raise questions of action, identity and definition.
